ndustry Association Seeking Exceptional Individuals or Organizations in Insurance Marketing and Communications
MINNEAPOLIS

The Insurance Marketing & Communications Association (IMCA) is seeking nominations for its 2017 Innovation Torchbearer Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that have demonstrated innovative ideas or initiatives impacting the insurance industry.

Nominees will be judged (by a panel of IMCA board of directors members) on a combined basis within three key areas of evaluation:

  • Overall impact of innovation on a national or international level.
  • Impact of innovation on respective insurance industry segment.
  • Degree of innovation deployed in executed creative strategy.

“Innovation is critical to the success of any industry, especially one like insurance which has been around for centuries,” said Anna Hargis, chair of the IMCA board of directors and director of advertising at Shelter Insurance. “It’s important to recognize the innovators and encourage new and creative solutions to the challenges we all face as insurance marketers and communicators.”

Mark Friedlander, IMCA’s immediate past board chair and head of corporate communications at The Main Street America Group, added, “IMCA’s Innovation Torchbearer Award is considered one of the most prestigious honors in insurance. Since we established this program in 2012, we have recognized the ‘best of the best’ within our industry.”

Last year’s honoree was the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). Other previous IMCA Innovation Torchbearer Award winners include:

  • 2012: USAA
  • 2013: Esurance, An Allstate Company
  • 2014: Swiss Re
