Main Street America Insurance is celebrating Pride Month with numerous activities and events for their employees.

“Relationships and service are core to the fabric that binds Main Street America Insurance and our employees, said Hollie Carter, Manager Business and Community Impact. We believe we play a role in making the communities where our employees live and work thriving, safe spaces for all. It’s important we take intentional actions as part of that responsibility.”

The company will offer education opportunities, delve deeper into LGBTQ+ history and provide ways to be an ally to LGBTQ+ colleagues, friends, family and community members.

A rundown of some of the activities are below:

  • History and Education: The documentary film, CURED tells the story of the little-known but critical victory in the movement for LGBTQ+ equality.
  • Challenges and Advocacy: The company will be joined by Nashville Launch Pad, who note the LGBTQ+ community has a 120% higher chance of being housing impacted. The group aims to provide safe spaces for unhoused and displaced young adults identifying at LGTBQ+.
  • Financial Planning: Offered by MetLife, this workshop explores how financial planning may be unique for some in the LGBTQ+ community.

Main Street America has also taken steps to better understand who their employees are to continue building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. Voluntary self-identification options, use of pronouns in email signatures and expanded offerings within ten business resource groups, including one focused on LGBTQ+, are three of those measures.
